"I think that having some clinical guidelines would be very much beneficial for us in midlevel practice," says Adity Dutta, MSN, AGACNP-BC.
In this video, Adity Dutta, MSN, AGACNP-BC, discusses some of the biggest challenges she faces. Dutta is a nurse practitioner with Georgia Urology.
To tell you the truth, when I came to the urology practice as a midlevel provider, I was coming from a different background than the MDs. When I came to the practice, I found out that we do have some excellent recommendations, as far as AUA guidelines go and other [organizations]. However, [I think] we would definitely benefit from specific guidelines based on pathologic issues or disease processes. For example, there are some excellent guidelines on hematuria. However, as far as overactive bladder and interstitial cystitis go, as midlevels new to the [subspecialty], how would we navigate those challenges? And what to do next? What do I do next if this treatment option is not benefiting the patient, and it's not working? What do I do next? That question always drives us. And so I think that having some clinical guidelines would be very much beneficial for us in midlevel practice.
