Jim C. Hu, MD, MPH, will join the UCLA urology faculty in April 2012.
Dr. Hu has been appointed as professor and Henry E. Singleton Chair in Urology, director of minimally invasive urology, co-director of the UCLA Center for Advanced Surgical and Interventional Technology, and director of the Urology Procedures Unit.
Dr. Hu earned his Bachelor of Science in economics and his Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and his medical doctorate from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. He completed his surgery and urology residency training at UCLA and a fellowship in minimally invasive and robotic urology at City of Hope National Medical Center, Duarte, CA.
He is currently associate professor of surgery/urology at Harvard Medical School, Boston, where he serves as director of urologic robotic and minimally invasive surgery and director of the minimally invasive urologic oncology fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston.
UCLA Urology Chair Mark S. Litwin, MD, said that in addition to developing and enhancing UCLA’s clinical program in minimally invasive and robotic urologic oncology, Dr. Hu will support the department’s efforts in minimally invasive and robotic intervention in benign urology. He will also be responsible for formalizing and leading the department’s graduate medical education and continuing medical education programs in minimally invasive urology.
