Louis R. Kavoussi, MD, has been appointed chairman of the newly combined department of urology at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY.
Louis R. Kavoussi, MD, has been appointed chairman of the newly combined department of urology at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY.
Dr. Kavoussi previously served as vice chairman of urology, chief of the division of endourology, and the Patrick C. Walsh Distinguished Professor of Urologic Surgery at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. He joined Johns Hopkins in 1993.
"In this new leadership role, Dr. Kavoussi will oversee the merger of the two programs across both institutions and strengthen the educational, clinical, and accreditation status of the academic training programs for both medical residents and surgical fellows, as well as ensure a superior clinical standard for patient care," said Jon Cohen, MD, chief medical officer North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System.
