Dr. GeeAt the 2014 AUA annual meeting, look for the AUA to focus on many of its 2014 legislative priorities. On Friday, May 16, a day-long Practice Management Conference will include “important information about ICD-10 just for urology,” said William F. Gee, MD, who is in private practice in Lexington, KY. (A 1-year delay to the implementation of the International Classification of Diseases–10th Revision coding system coincided with the recent passage of a 1-year patch to the sustainable growth rate formula.)
“This information is pertinent to practice managers, billing staff, and urologists,” Dr. Gee said.
He also pointed out an “excellent” Saturday course on physician contract negotiation led by Tom Stringer, MD. “This course will provide key information for residents finishing training and any urologist considering hospital employment or large group practice,” Dr. Gee said.
Additional recommendations are the AUA/AACU Health Policy Forum and podium and poster sessions covering evidence-based medicine and outcomes.
“Evidence-based medicine and outcomes data are the new measures that will be used for physician reimbursement by CMS and private payers. It is important to understand how all of this works,” he said.
