Bi-/monopolar surgery unit allows TUR in either mode
Culver City, CA-Karl Storz Endoscopy-America, Inc. introduces the Autocon II 400 electrosurgical unit (ESU), which is equipped for mono- and bipolar output to instruments of either sort. Its bipolar C-Cut output permits transurethral resection in saline for reduced obturator nerve stimulation during bladder resection and greater physiologic compatibility. The device is designed for simplified operation and easy upgrading. Storz?s new bipolar resectoscope can be used with this unit. This resectoscope uses the same principles as, and handles like, the monopolar version, but it is equipped with an active electrode for precisely controlled energy and a path for returning current to the generator without the need for a neutral electrode or patient return pad.
