Forceps' design allows for saferetrieval of biopsy samples

Mentor, OH-US Urology, a division of US Endoscopy, recently announced the release of the Alligator biopsy and retrieval forceps. The forceps feature a unique design that provides the grip needed to safely and securely collect a biopsy or various foreign bodies from the bladder or kidney, according to the company.

Bloomington, IN-The endogo HD portable endoscopic imaging system has the ability to capture, store, and share endoscopic images, making it possible for physicians to share information with patients instantly, simplify collaboration between colleagues, and potentially reduce costs by eliminating the need for repeat procedures, according to manufacturer Cook Medical. The combination of data acquisition, storage, management, and the synchronization of patient folders in an easy-to-use Web application makes it possible to send an image or video over a secured connection to a referring doctor outside the facility. The endogo HD easily couples with both flexible and rigid endoscopes, transforming the captured images and video from analog to digital. The camera also has built-in source optimization for high-quality imaging.

FDA approves 6-month formulation of advanced prostate Ca therapy

Abbott Park, IL-The FDA recently approved a new 6-month formulation of Abbott's leuprolide acetate for depot suspension (Lupron Depot) for patients with advanced prostate cancer. The new 45-mg formulation provides an alternative to taking the drug every 1, 3, or 4 months, providing additional dosing flexibility.
