Urologist-owned PVP Laser joint venture enjoys profits

Prostate Centers of America said its first urologist-owned LLC joint venture using photoselective vaporization of the prostate (PVP) had reached profitability.

The first joint venture, West Florida Prostate Laser Services, LLC, opened in October 2003 and involves three urologists.

Prostate Centers of America provides the Greenlight PVP laser (Laserscope, San Jose, CA), brachytherapy, and cryoablation in joint ventures that are similar to lithotripsy partnerships. The equipment is mobilized between several facilities in the local LLC's area to serve all shareholders as well as non-shareholders, the company said.
